Baby kicking covers off

Sorry I've posted lots today. Didn't realise how supportive you all were! Thank you.

Dd is 12 days old. For the past few nights she has been constantly kicking covers off then waking up crying (although sometimes she kicks them off then carries on sleeping). From doing this she has found that she can turn sideways in crib so laying across it which means she bangs her arms and legs on the bars.

Am I doing something wrong? Is she too hot? The room to is around 19 degrees and she had vest, bodysuit, flat sheet, cellular blanket.

She doesn't weigh enough for a sleeping bag and hates swaddling. Any other ideas for alternatives to sheets? They are always tightly tucked in but she always manages to get them off!!

Congratulations on your new baby! At that age I dressed in a really cosy babygrow (the fleecy sort) and a vest rather than blankets, how much does she weigh?

Sleeping bags! Gro Bags or just the cheaper supermarket ones. I am a convert as they are just so much easier than blankets.

I doubt she is able to do it purposefully yet so it's probably not because she is too hot. More likely involuntary wriggling.

She weighs 7lb 4oz. Thank you for your replies :)

So I could give up on blankets and use a vest and sleepsuit? I didn't realise :)

I had the same problem so have opted for a swaddle bag. my lo hates being swaddled because he loves his arms being out. I swaddle underneath the arm pits and it works a dream!

I'd also consider persevering with the swaddling, perhaps with one arm out, it took a couple of days with my dd but she slept so much better.

You can buy 'halo' swaddles which can be swaddled under the arms or over. Amazon sell them. You're apparently not meant to swaddles their legs any more (it affects their hips) so these type where you swaddle arms only are a better choice. You might find lo likes having arms swaddled if the legs are free- my ds certainly did.
