Why newborn bottles are the best?

Need advice on bottles please. My ds is 5 days old every time he has a bottle the flow seems to be to fast for him so he ends up spitting half of it back out when he swallows not only is his clothes saturated (I'm having to put a tea towel under his chin to catch the excess) I'm also worried he's not getting enough milk.
In the hospital they used the prem baby teats which were great, I've noticed Dr Brown's do a preemie bottle but it only holds 60ml which isn't big enough. I've tried the avent and tommee yippee bottles. Any tips on any others I can get a slower flow from?

Was he a premmie?

Most of the first stage teats should be fine for your average newborn, but it might be different if he was prem. Smile

Is you midwife still visiting or have you been discharged now? I can never remember when they stop coming but I do remember them watching one of my DC's feeding and then were able to give me some advice.

It can be quite messy when they first feed, I used to think the bottle was leaking. Does he seem happy and settled?

If he were bf he'd be getting no way near 60ml. Granted he'll pretty soon be needing more but 60ml is quite a bit bigger than the capacity of his stomach.

He was 39wk so not premature. Midwife has been today she said he's slightly tongue tied so most probably the reason he spits half out. I've been making him 3oz feeds but he's obviously not getting all that as alot gets squirted back out.
