www.mothercare.com/Mothercare-Loved-So-Much-Bouncer/455606,default,pd.html#q=loved so much

He has quite bad reflux which he is on medicine for and he has gaviscon in bottles 6 times a day.

At night he is an absolute nightmare to resettle in his Moses after each feed. He likes to be upright after a bottle for a little while but at 3am, this is beginning to get a bit impractical as that is when the "oh god I need to sleep now" thoughts kick in along with burny sleep deprived eyes

His moses is propped up so it's at a bit of an angle but even after sitting him up after a bottle, it still takes another 10-15 mins of face stroking and rocking to get him off to sleep. So each bottle routine was taking nearly an hour (he's a slow feeder)

So we put him in the chair last night and it made such a difference. After a feed, straight back to sleep and I can lie in bed and rock it, bonus

I'm just worried it might hurt his back? Do I carry on with the Moses and extreme lack of sleep or let him stay in the chair and for everyone to get a bit more sleep?

This is my PFB in case that wasn't screamingly obvious :)

I wouldn't, they're not designed for sleep AFAIK. But you could always rock him in it to get him to sleep and then try transferring to the Moses basket.

I know how hard sleep deprivation is, DS woke every 45 mins for 5 months and would be awake for over an hour. It was hell. It will get easier, hang on in there.

My GP told me she had her baby sleep in a bouncer for the first four months as her baby had reflux. She advised me to do the same.

How about a baby hammock? They're designed for sleeping in and supposed to be great for reflux.

Ooohhh will look into baby hammocks. I feel so sorry for him all scrunchy and in pain after a bottle so I feel bad trying to lay him flat if it's causing him more pain.
I definitely didn't sit up til 4am with him on my chest at the weekend as it was the most comfortable position for him
Bloody reflux Confused

DS had reflux and he slept in a bouncer for his first 3 months, and then we went into a swinging crib elevated at one side. He still naps in his bouncer now at 7 months.

Try not to berate yourself too much whatever your choices.

What medicine is he on? If the reflux is quite bad could you trial a new one? Have they checked for any intolerances?

I think I'm going to stick with the bouncer, he's getting weighed on the 13th so I'll ask the HV then what she thinks, he seems happiest in it.

He's on ranitidine and gaviscon. We ended up in hospital for 3 days when he was 10 days old with it as he wasn't taking much milk and was projectile vomiting. Scary times.
He's got that medicine for the next month and then it'll be re looked at and if necessary, be tested for intolerances but I do think it's helping him, he only gets scrunchy directly after a feed and is far more comfortable the rest of the time

my friend's baby had a medical problem which lead to very severe reflux, she could never lie flat, she had bouncers, car seats, etc etc so she slept semi upright.
She was fine as long as well supported on either side. A rolled up towel down each side ensured she was supported.

Do whatever's best for you guys, he is happiest in the chair, your happiest with sleep... Job done!
Dd always slept in her Moses basket but ds is a bloody nightmare with silent vomiting, so we sleep him in his chair (like yours) on advice of the docs so if he's sick he doesn't choke on it without us noticing...

Ask for omeprazole and domperidone . Ranitidine is ok but gaviscon isn't great.

Either the gaviscon or ranitidine is now not agreeing with his tummy, dr at the hospital did mention a side effect of constipation so will ask about those ones you have mentioned.
Aarrgghh this is never ending, my poor baby :(

It'll be the gavisgon causing the constipation . my ds suffered and was given lacolose to soften.

It takes a lot of patience and perseverance at this time, but remember, they do grow out of it .

I remember the early weeks thinking it will last forever , 3 months came and it settled a lot. he's now on solids and does be sick quite still but he's happy

You need to buy a Cocoonababy. They help with reflux. My baby sleeps in hers and loves it. It quite literally is a godsend. They are made by Red Castle. I would have paid double. I bought mine second hand on eBay.

If you're getting sleep carry on, both mine sleep in there's at night as it really is the only way to deal with refluxy twins. They are 15 wks and been doing it for maybe 10 wks, they had physio the other wk and have absolutely nothing wrong with their spines etc from long periods of time in them.

You can buy foam wedges so they can sleep safely inclined.

I had a Jane matrix carrycot/carseat. Because it's hinged it can go anywhere from lie flat to upright. Genius in situations like yours cos I could put her in it upright after a feed, then gradually lower the back until she was inclined enough to sleep through without waking her. Being on the pushchair too meant it was bed height and also I could jiggle it.
