Child with the lurgy and a dilemma

Ds1 (aged 4) has an impetigo like skin infection (to quote the doctor) and has been off school for the last two days. The thing is he has been invited to a birthday party tomorrow afternoon, which he has been looking forward to for ages. And it's not as if he's likely to be invited to many more as he's not Mr Popular (he's very shy and has problems with his speech.)

Anyway, the doctor's advice was to keep him off school for 48 hours after the treatment commenced - which was Thursday morning, so he should be in the clear. Trouble is, he still looks like he has bad acne.

So do I send him anyway, and risk being socially ostracised when all the other kids develop impetigo - which they probably will anyway as they've been in school with him for the first part of the week? Do I make him miss it which seems such a shame? Or do I get my concealer pen out....?

Any advice appreciated.

I think my hunch is I would still plan to go, esp. since your DS is looking forward to it. If you really could cover it with a little foundation make up, that wouldn't hurt either. Can you phone the mother of the birthday child and ask her what she thinks?
