Hi Georgiana, Well as no one else has replied I'll tell you what I know of Woking. I worked near there until mat leave and dh worked in Woking itself for a few years.

It's a really very nice place, property is quite expensive because it's "country" but "commutable" into London (30 mins I believe)- in fact I think that Woking station is the busiest station in the UK - even busier than Clapham Juction !

There are lots of lovely but pricey villages around, friends live in St Johns but in tiny houses as they are so expensive. There's a big newish development called Goldsworth Park which is where a lot of families live - I imagine it's a little cheaper than the villagey scene.

No idea about schools I'm afraid but you could try a website called either www.upyourstreet.com or www.upmystreet.com - that's always useful for sussing out new areas !!

Have you got any interviews lined up yet ? Any luck on the suit front ?

Hi Scatterbrain, thanks for the reply.I thought Woking might be a bit expensive property wise, that's the downside really.Dh has told me now that he wants to go for another job that has come up as well as the Woking one-this other one is right up in the highlands. With his job it's unusual for 2 jobs to come up at the same time.I don't know what to think really.I won't ask about Scotland yet as he hasn't an interview even yet it's early days but watch this space.Well I have another job to apply for now, full time again.Haven't heard from the other one yet.Still going for both as you never know. Went and tried on a lovely suit in Next today, nice fitted jacket and trousers just over 100.It's a possible but i didn't have time to go to m&s so want to check them out before I buy.Did enjoy myself though and spent my birthday money on some jeans and a brown gypsy top from Next

Hi Woking is good for fast trains into London (appx 30 mins) and not bad for housing. There are many areas around and 6-7 years ago we nearly bought a lovely house there. We didn't because our buyer was stalling and ended up in Shepperton about 10 miles away and got a lot more for our money.

like scatterbrain says try upyourstreet. I think the schools are generally very good. Some people we know have just moved to Lightwater (near Woking) and are so happy with the schools that they are going to move their son out of a good public school when a place is available.

There are plenty of alternatives to actually living in Woking! Good Luck
