Want to help me plan my wedding?

DP and I are getting married next year and we're a bit undecided about timings so I thought I'd ask the nest of vipers for input.

Budget is small, hopefully less than £1500 and there will be around 30 guests at most. We've chosen a venue and we could get married on premises or the local registry office is just a few miles away in a busy tourist town. It costs £50 to get married in office or £300 for a ceremony at the venue. I think the venue will charge a small fee too. Do you think the convenience of having everything at one venue outweighs the additional cost?

The majority of guests live around an hour's drive from the venue so can easily get home if they choose not to stay at the venue. However a few will have a long drive to get there (3-4 hours). I was thinking we could hold the wedding in the late afternoon, thus giving guests ample time to drive up and meaning they would only require a hotel for one night. DP favours an earlier ceremony for some reason but this might mean guests would have to travel the previous day which is a bank holiday. Alternatively we could hold the wedding on a bank holiday Monday which would cost more.

If you were a guest, what would you prefer? I'm conscious of people having to take time off work and want to make plans which are amenable to most guests.
