Baby modelling

I'm considering putting my 10-month old son forward for baby modelling after a few people, including a photographer friend, suggested it.
I have been looking into it and have found a couple of agencies but how do you know if they are genuine or if it's a scam to get photos of your child?
I got in touch with one that had good reviews, but now they want £75 to complete the application - I thought I read that if you have to pay up front it's generally dodgy?
Any advice or recommendations? And I don't want a load of comments about exploiting him, or some such. It's just something I am thinking about.
