WTF is pass the parcel?

WW it's more fun than musical bumps, and less fun than musical chairs.

It's a children's party game Wicked. Generally, you have a smallish prize wrapped up in many layers of paper. The parcel is passed round by the children whilst music plays. When the music stops, the child holding the parcel carefully removes one layer of wrapping . There's either a forfeit - sing a nursery rhyme or something - or a small packet of sweets for that child. Music starts again and the parcel is passed around. This carries on until the final layer and the child who unwraps that wins the main prize.

No child ever holds on to the parcel for longer than they should , and there are never any disagreements between the children as to who was holding the parcel when the music stops. And no parents ever fix each round - bar the final prize - so that every child gets a turn
