My brother and his fiancee are looking for a wedding venue in the Leeds/A1 corridor area of West Yorkshire or even up into North Yorkshire. They need reception venue for c80 sit down, 130 ish at night with about 50 rooms for guests to stay over, does anyone have any ideas on a place to fit these criteria?

Any ideas welcome, thanks.

Hi Epigirl, we got married at Wentbridge House Hotel but don't know offhand if it has 50 rooms - there are two lovely pubs by it that guests can stay in as well. All I can say is its worth him ringing for a brochure to see if it fits his requirements, we had a fabulous wedding there in July 2000 and I can't praise the staff highly enough - they really did put themselves out to make it a special day and it was perfect

If you're going into N Yorks, have a look at the Devonshire Arms - Fred Truman's daughter married Raquel Welch's son there (or vice versa!)

Some friends of mine got married at The Orangery at Settrington, nr Malton, N. Yorks. Can't find a good link for it, but it was lovely, best wedding I've been to.

We went to a wedding at Duncombe Park near Helmsley. Beautiful place and plenty of good accommodation in Helmsley in a pretty square, which I seem to remember is in staggering distance!

Thanks everyone. Liked the Devonshire Arms too but you have to commit to your guests staying for two nights and it's £250 per night...shame!

My brother is getting married this year, and they are having the reception at Aldward Manor I think it meets your criteria. I haven't been, but allegedly it's gorgeous.

I didn't realise how expensive it was, epigirl - sorry! It is lovely though. We go camping near there in the summer and there is often a wedding on.

Tankersley Manor from kmg's site is nice too - it's Sheffield though, too far South?

JanH, that's where I had the final interview for my last job!! I had forgotten all about that. I ended up living and working near there for 2 years. Although it is too far south, thanks for the memories!!

I can confirm that the Orangery at Settrington did close for a time but in 2013 the business was relaunched. A very private venue and not open to the public - means we are able to provide exclusivity and a very bespoke approach to organising any event or wedding reception. Please take time to have a look at our new website //www.settringtonorangery.co.uk.

We got married at The Mansion in Roundhay, was lovely and they can do small to huge, not far out of town so lots of options for staying at every price range!

Hazlewood castle, near sherburn in elmet. On the a1. There is an extra hotel a few miles down the road if not all the guests fit in the hotel. We got married there. It's amazing.
