feeling a bit teary - first experience of being told that ds1 has been naughty

does it get easier?

he's been going to nursery for 2 or 3 months now

has always been good

the last two days he's been acting up - pushing on the slide, not taking turns, and in one instance grabbing a little girl's neck

i wonder whether he's been bored - it's half term and there are very few children in nursery. they've not been following their regular timetables - instead they've had lots of free play and some videos (...?)

words of wisdom would be welcomed

He's three. It's his job to be naughty. Honest.

He'll be fine next week when it's all back to normal.

I think they should do better activities than free play and videos. DOn't worry. He's perfectly normal.

well, i would be bored if i was subjected to videos and no strustured activities, and if i was three i would certainly be "acting up"

nothing to worry about - they all do it and as long as nursery are handling it well, then i wouldn't give it a second thought

I do think it is pretty normal 3 YO behaviour

As for does it get any easier being told that your beloved LO has been less than perfect - IME, no - or not yet, anyway!

we'vew had the first bad report for violence (hitting small girl over head with toy)

DS is 19 mo

changes to routine and videos sounds like a bad combo. Have you asked the nursery about this? Surely he shouldn't be penalised cos it's half term?

Parents evening has me close to tears even when they are being nice about DS

Both DS's teacher and I were in tears at the final parents' evening in Reception. Then her report had me sobbing. And then she rang me after they had broken up and we were both at it again. So yes, it only gets worse

I haven't had exactly the same experience but at a friend's house today dd (5yrs) was being particularly whiney and teary for no reason and I heard myself say to my friend, 'oh she's a bit tired' Sometimes their behaviour is just rubbish and there's no reason Don't worry, as others have said, he's three, he's a boy, he's testing out what his limits are, he'll be fine next week i bet!

We got called in to do a behaviour management plan because DS had been biting. He's just 2. I felt like I was standing outside the headmasters office !

At his nursery they actually do extra stuff at half term as the staff ratios are better, and today they were taking the toddlers on the public bus to the next village. Same routines as ever, and they don't even have a TV in the nursery.

i just went to check on him (he went to his room to look at his new bed)

he's asleep

hasn't napped in months

was woken this morning at 5:00 by his brother

so, he must have been tired at nursery. which may have been a factor in his being naughty
