Pram bans

Hi, ive heard loads of stories lately of parents being banned from taking prams into sure start centres, community centre, doctors etc all because of health and safety. meaning parents have to take little ones out of the pram when asleep, or putting them back into a cold pram. anybody else suffered from one of these bans?

You can't take prams into our health centre (where baby clinic is held) because it's a fire risk apparently - I assume they mean they create a blockage so people might not be able to get out in an emergency.

Much more important than putting a baby in a cold pram I think.

This is common sense and extremely sensible for many buildings, particularly those where toddler groups, weigh in clinics or nurseries are held. Buggies are large and unwieldy and can block passageways. We ask parents to leave prams and pushchairs outside (within eyesight) when they drop their children off at the nursery where I work. There simply isn't room for them bring them in when 30+ children are also arriving/hanging up coats etc.

At our doctors you don't take them I to the wIting room because there's just not space for half a dozen little tanks. Take a sling if they need to sleep - and seriously, a cold pram?

I don't think I've ever heard anyone worry that their baby is being put into a cold pram!!

We have to leave our prams outside our children's centre (they give us padlocks). Haven't thought twice about it really as I need to wake the baby to weigh her or participate in the group anyway. Putting her in a cold pram hasn't damaged her in any way!

It's Always been that rule around here. Hence I always used a sling going to doctors/ groups etc. actually our doctors is upstairs so you would have to take baby out even if pram was inside

It makes sense, they haven't built a pram
Park inside places like doctors, many buildings are old so no option either, and it's unsafe to block areas incase of Fire or other emergency

You're being precious OP. It's not a suffering in the grand scheme of things.

I know slings are often mentioned but maybe they would help.

I would be more concerned about the pram being stolen. A wrap isn't an option for everyone. If the baby clinic didn't allow prams I just wouldn't bother attending.

I never went anyway. Waste of time

A bike lock keeps prams safe unless somebody is really determined.
