Inflation busting price rise

I got home today to find an evasive letter from my son's nursery. The just of it is that 2014's price rise will be 4.2%.

I shan't name and shame them but they are down there on a similar level to the energy and train companies.

Is minimum wage about to increase? If they pay all their staff at minimum wage then possibly their staffing costs are going to rise sharply.

Their 3 yr old funding has probably been cut, so they have to make up the money somewhere else?

I saw an advert for a nursery job the other day. Level 2 qualification minimum. £13,000 per year. If the 4.2% goes on to staff wage increases they will be getting £13,546 per year. A massive overpayment for the people who will be looking after the most precious thing in your life.

I put up my cm prices last year by 5% from £40 to £42. I include everything except nappies and make £21 profit per child per day. So shoot me.

Also auto enrollment for pensions is now coming in so they will have to start paying pension for all employees which will increase their costs further.

Can you find a cheaper alternative locally?
