Partial molar pregnancy

I have just been told that my last pregnancy erpc 8 weeks ago was a partial molar pregnacy.
That pregnancy was no 6, 2 dc's , 4 consecutive m/c's.
Has anyone had any experience of this type of molar pregnancy and would be willing to explain to me what happened with you in terms of treatment.
With thanks

So sorry to hear about what you've been through hairyclaireyfairy - I've had pretty much the same thing happen to me, so know how tough it is.

Wrt the partial molar - I'm in Belgium and my gynae messed up, but afaik after having a partial molar you should have your hcg levels checked every month and you'll have to wait to try again (if you are going to).

There is a really good website (can't remember what it's called) and it gives details of a number you can ring for advice, and also information about what a partial molar pregnancy actually is. Sorry I can't be more specific but v tired at mo so brain not in gear. Google partial molar and it should be one of the first sites listed.

If you have any more Q's I'd be happy to try to help if I can - I might be a wee bit more with it tomorrow

Sorry to hear you have been through this.

I had a molar pregnancy in 2003, and have since gone on to have 2 dds and am pregnant with dc3.

My mp was persistent and invasive (which is very rare), which meant that I had to have 2 erpcs, and a course of chemotherapy.

I was and am monitered by Charing Cross - who are fantastic, and a great source of information and advice, their website is here. Depending on where you are, your hcg levels should be monitored (through blood and urine tests), by one of the molar pregnancy centres (Charing Cross, Sheffied and Dundee).

There is also a website, here, which has a chat forum, and other information about molar pregnancies, that may be helpful.

It is very important, that you have your hcg levels monitered to watch them coming down, and wait the required amount of time before ttc, so that molar tissue doesn't recur.

Please look after yourself, and feel free to cat me, or come on here if you want to chat.

Thank you for your lovely messages and both of you to the link to the other forum, it seems that I have the less worrying type of molar pregnancy.
I did'nt see the hospital till eight weeks post erpc so hopefully my levels have gone down, have had a af so that is positive. Will just wait and see what happens how, the hosp said sheffield hospital will be in touch within the next couple of weeks
Thanks again

Hi there,
I'm a bit late to this thread but wanted to let you know that I had a partial molar pregnancy in Nov 08 following a previous miscarriage earlier that year. I had the 6 months of follow-up at sheffield, was given the all-clear in May 09 and am now typing this one-handed as I'm holding my sleeping 6-week old dd with the other arm

it's a strange and scary thing, molar pregnancy, but you'll find lots of support on mumsnet, and hopefully you'll come out of it fine. I'm happy to talk about it if it helps. Take care.
