Need advice am I miscarrying?

I had some light bleeding (when wiping!) sorry TMI when I was 7 weeks went off to the EPU to have a scan and be told I was actually only 5 weeks! Went back 2 weeks later for a confirmation of pregnancy scan to be told the baby was 6 weeks old! However we saw a heartbeat which was a relief. This doesn't actually tally correctly as that would mean I had a positive when not even pregnant!!

Anyway still had some bleeding when wiping. This week I have been bleeding like a light period from Monday and yesterday it was like a medium flow. Just been to looo and passed some blood clots.

I have been worried I was going to miscarry for the last few weeks Is this it? Am I now going to miscarry? Or is this part of the normal bleeding some women have? I have a scan booked in for week Saturday do you think I should wait or try and get in earlier? Would a pregnancy test tell if I was still pregnant?

Sorry for all the questions just feel like I am in limbo.

Hi, you sound really worried, understandibly.

A pregnancy test will still show you are pregnant and continues to do so some time after a mc, so in other words, a very poor indicator of preganany state.

You will need an urgent scan. you need your mind at rest and to know whats going on.

Any bleeding in pregnancy is a worry

are you having any pain?

Hello mylittlebubble,

I agree that you need a scam earlier than next Saturday. I would suggest making an appointment with your GP. I hope everything is ok. Take care xxx

I am having pains but if I wasn't bleeding I would put them down to normal pregnancy pain IYKWIM.

So you should be 9 weeks now then going by your dates? You said you thought you were 7 weeks but they told you you were 5? I think an important point is if the baby grew properly from 1 scan to the next and you said it only grew a week in two weeks? If that makes any sense.

Bleeding and clots don't sound good but I've heard of women experiencing this and having healthy pregnancies, I wasn't on of them though and miscarried when this happened. I'm not wanting to upset you as your baby could be fine. I think you need to be seen and scanned again to see what's going on. Call your epau tomorrow and they will probably scan you tomorrow as an emergency.

I hope everything works out well for you.

Mylittlebubble, you need a scan asap. It could be nothing (I had bleeding several times in my first pg) but you need to set your mind at ease.

Can you call your GP and get a referral to the EPU? They generally take bleeding seriously IME.

Best of luck x

Do mention the pains too when you call. It might be completely unrelated to the bleeding, but it is a red flag which will push you up higher in the priority for emergency scans IYSWIM.

Most of all stay calm and make sure you have support in place, whatever the outcome.

I would phone your gp or midwife, when i started bleeding i phoned the midwife even though i had not even seen her or spoken to her before and she arranged a scan that same day. you need to get checked and not wait over a week. i hope everything is fine for you, take care xx

My local EPU has a turn up between 9 - 10 am in the morning and wait to be seen system so I'll go down there tomorrow morning. Thanks for your responses.

Mylittlebubble, that sounds good. Any chance you could phone ahead and let them know your situation? I only say because they won't know you're an "urgent case" if you're just sitting in the queue IYSWIM and may not see you before the open clinic ends. If you can't phone ahead, then do make sure you let someone know of the bleeding and pain as soon as you get there so they can see you sooner rather than later.

Best of luck. I'll be thinking of you. Hope the baby is safe and well

Thanks Eggsand Bacon. Unfortunately it wasn't good news. My bleeding turned into big clots and the scan showed no heart beat. I have to go back next Wednesday for ERPC.
Thank you for all your advice you speared me on to go and get checked out glad I did.
