I had a mc naturally around a week ago at 7.3 weeks. All pg symptoms gone then suddenly last night breast soreness and nausea returned. Did pg test showing 1-2 weeks post conception which would fit with last time had unprotected sex but since then scan with heart beat before mc itself. Hyperovulation possible??

Also tested positive for ovulation test today so am thinking most likely I have some hcg left and LH is high as ovulating post mc all at same time.

Anyone else had this please? Am v confused, hormones all over the place!

Also had wine and caffeine/blue cheese/pate this week as 2 fingers up to mother nature (IYKWIM)so now worrying on the slight chance may be pg!

Thanks in advance for any words of wisdom!

Hi, so sorry to hear of your loss.
I have recently been going through a mc and had a pg test done at recent visit to hospital and was positive due to some of pregnancy still being in there. Have you been scanned after mc to check all is clear. There can be a risk of infection if you are not monitored. I am not sure how quickly you ovulate after a mc. Hope this is of some help to you.

I was told that I could ovulate within a couple of weeks of my MC.
Have you had a scan since your MC? I really think you should, just to make sure that you've passed everything. My GP was adamant about this.
I've been freaking out a little today because my breasts feel ready to lactate (swollen, tingly), which surprised me as I was only 8-9 wks when I had my MC a week ago. It's like a less extreme sensation of my milk coming in (as remembered from having ds years ago). Effing horrible. Perhaps you're experiencing the same?

Thanks both,

Daisy, Barack sorry for your losses too - it stinks doesn't it?

That's really helpful thanks. I have now been to Docs and got referral to EPAU for another scan. The one I had was conclusive re mc but I have since had quite a lot more bleeding so I'm not sure how accurate they are re everything completing?

Re breast soreness, that's awful Barack to have to go through that. I have not had that sensation but have to say they look like someone's had a bicycle pump to them one minute and really hurt, the next they are completely deflated. Very odd but hormones I guess. Also my hair is falling out in clumps, all hormonal too?

The ovulation test was conclusive and have my usual pain with that too but I am trying to take a positive view re body getting back on track. Although I have to say despite being desperate to get pg again, the thought of TTC at the mo is just one step too far given emotions.. ...

witzend - Sorry to hear you are having a miscarriage. If you were 7weeks and only miscarried a week ago, you would still have positive pregnancy and ov tests from the hormone levels going down. Ovulation tests react to pregnancy hormones, so it is not that you are ovulating now but that you still have pregnancy hormones in your system. It could be another week or more before you get a negative pregnancy test and negative ovulation test. It will be about two weeks after you get a negative test that you will ovulate.

Test again in a week and check that you have a negative pregnancy test.

I find that my pregnancy symptoms return with a vengence as the miscarriage is finishing. It is a cruel twist of effect for me that I feel pregnant as the hormone levels go down as well as up. For me I know I am miscarrying when I have a couple of days with no symptoms followed by intense symptoms returning. My symptoms do not fully go until I get a negative pregnancy test.

I hope that this helps you to understand that your body is still recovering from the miscarriage. As already said here, if you still have a positive pregnancy test two weeks after miscarriage at 7 weeks, then you should get checked that there is nothing left. Also watch out for signs of infection.

Bewarned also that miscarriages can be stop-start with bleeding too.

There is a good website here that helps explain some of the things that you are asking.

Willitbe thanks so much for that info - I feel much better now I know more about what's going on. That site is fab - I will be passing it onto a friend in a similar situation.

The continuation of symptoms are particularly cruel and came back with a vengeance last night when I looked after my 12 week old nephew. Probably hormonal reaction to the baby? That was hard but caring for him felt like part of the journey to recovery and he is so beautiful

Thanks for your post, really helped me. Thinking of you.
