Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

How soon to try again

I've just had a scan at 6 weeks which confirmed I did have an early miscarriage 11 days ago. I'm ok, obviously sad, but feeling fairly philosophical about it. I'd like to try again straight away (if I am still to ovulate) but the midwife we saw said to wait till after next period... I've been reading lots on forums etc and have seen many people saying they tried again, and were sometimes advised to try straight away, if ok emotionally.

I guess I am asking regarding the physical side of things - is it ok to try again straight away if I can or should we wait? Any advice?

Hi boop. Sorry to read about your miscarriage. I think the advice is to wait until you have gone through a full cycle so that dating the pregnancy is easier for them but medically I don't think there is any reason why you need to wait. I recently had a miscarriage at 8 weeks and wanted to wait a cycle to try again so I knew I was 100% physically over it to give the pregnancy the best possible chance. I did bleed for about a month after my miscarriage though.

Hi I had a mc at 7 wks before DS1 (I'm pregnant again now). For me personally I wanted to try straight away as it was the best way I felt to cop. I bled for about 5 days I think then ovulated 2 weeks later (I was using OPKs) so we tried and I conceived so my due date was about 5/6 weeks after my original one. No issues at all with the next pregnancy. I think it is to do with Saturday be the pregnancy but if you know when you ovulate then that's not really a consideration. Good luck!

Thanks, I think we'll just go for trying and see what happens. I'll use ovulation sticks, so if I do manage to get pregnant straight away, whilst there won't be a last period dare, at least we should know roughly when we actually got pregnant. Appreciate your responses.
