Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

Very early miscarriage

I know there are no answers, it's just a waiting game. But I'm in/was in very early pregnancy (period due in 2 days). I know very early, but this would be dc3 so I just 'knew' and test confirmed. Last night, I lost some blood. Not loads but enough to wake me up. I cleaned up, padded up and waited for the inevitable. I haven't had more than spotting since then. Does anyone have any similar experiences of this happening? The blood was red/brown and I still have some cramps. I did have a bleed at around 6 weeks with ds2 but it was pink blood and a scan a few days later confirmed he was ok. It was a different kind of blood loss last night though. I feel really deflated today. It was such early days so I was aware this could happen but can't help feeling sad.

Hi sunflower. So sorry to hear you are going through this. Wit my DS I had a positive test on a Friday and my period was due on the Tuesday. From the Saturday I had quite heavy bleeding, not period heavy but still bright red and fresh blood. I bled every day for probably about 10 weeks. Some days barely anything and other days quite a bit. It's so hard to tell in these early days. Try to stay positive and rest up where you can. Will keep my fingers crossed for you.

Hiya. This probably isn't helpful but you just can't tell... I had an early miscarriage with barely any blood loss at the time, and really only one day of bleeding a couple of weeks later. I also had two weeks of on and off bleeding, flooding pads, passing big clots, with the pregnancy that gave me my now almost 6yo. Contact the early pregnancy unit, they likely won't scan you till you are a bit further on unless you have any pain or ectopic symptoms but they will often Book a six week scan so you know for certain. And they are always lovely to talk to on the phone. Unlikely to be open today but find the number and call them first thing xx

Like Banana I had a very similar experience in this pregnancy. Positive test on the Tuesday, fresh red bleeding on Wednesday, Thursday and assumed it was game over but tests got stronger between 4 and 5 weeks. Big bleed at 6 weeks but heartbeat found on scan, bigger bleed at 9 weeks, huge bleed at 11 weeks but (touch wood) all good now at 37 weeks. Never had a single spot of blood in my previous pregnancy with DD so have found it really scary.

Basically I don't think there any way of knowing at this stage. It's shit but all you can do is wait it out and try and be philosophical. Fingers crossed for you.

Thankyou all for your replies, it is giving me hope that this is something that sometimes happens at the beginning of an otherwise healthy pregnancy. I will definitely contact epu tomorrow. I'll just have to cross my fingers and hope for the best in the meantime. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy felloutofbed, almost there!

Thank you- and good luck to you. There's nothing you can do unfortunately so early on so just keep thinking positive and try and be calm about it all, if you can, I know that's easier said than done. Thinking of you.

Hope that you managed to contact the early pregnancy unit. They should be the best people to look after you whatever the outcome. Xx

I am going through something similar. I got bfp around 2 weeks ago which only showed up a week after my missed AF. (I was testing for DAYS & kept returning negative but I just knew) anyway since Friday I have had bleeding and cramping and went to EPU where they did internal scan and nurse said she couldn't really see much (possibly the beginning of a sac?) but still too small to tell. She informed me that if I'd been 6 weeks which I thought I was from my date of lmp then they would have expected to see hb :'( she said I uterine thickening so they did bloods and hcg result returned 638 which she said is indicating I'm only around 4 weeks..?i find this strange so I had a bad feeling. Returned to hosp yesterday for more another hcg test and it returned 652 so it's not looking good for me-it's supposed to double every 48hrs.I'm devastated. Today I have woke up to worse abdominal cramps and went to the toilet and there was a gush of blood with numerous tiny clots. The pain has moved to my back and I fear I'm probably experiencing miscarriage right now. The bleeding has been ongoing all weekend (this is 5th day now) and ive been scheduled for another blood test tomorrow. They have warned me abt ectopic too. I think I have come to terms with the loss but it's awful having to live through it for days if you get me? I wish I could just draw a line under it to try & help myself emotionally deal with it better. All I will say is that if your blood loss was just one occurrence then I would try remain optimistic and even more so if it was brown blood.they say it means it's old blood and not fresh as would be indicated by red. Stay hopeful & I will cross my fingers for you. Xx
