Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

Any experience of low progesterone?

I posted in 'Conception' but on second thoughts it probably belongs here.

I'm hoping someone might be able to advise...

I have 2 DD's, aged 5 & 3, and before DD1 I had 7 mc's, all before 8.5 weeks. We had full genetic testing etc, to give the NHS credit we had an amazing experience with miscarriage care and also investigations into recurrent mc. All bloods etc came back fine

Then for DD1 I took progesterone supplements, and first cycle took these I carried her full term, no problems at all. I took the supplements till 12 weeks. I had done some research and asked my GP for them and she was happy to try it.

Then DD2 was a very wonderful surprise - we honestly didn't think it could happen without any supplements. Carried her full term, no problems at all, took no progesterone supplements.

In December we decided to start trying for our third and final baby. I assumed, obviously naively, that whatever it was that was wrong was fine now because of DD2. Since then we have had 2 chemical pregnancies. And I took a break, now thinking about trying again - mainly to a 'whoopsie' moment yesterday!

I'm wondering if I should hot foot it down to the GP and ask for progesterone pessaries for the rest of this cycle or just leave it?

Does anyone have inexperience of low progesterone? Or taken it for some pregnancies and not others?

Thanking you Flowers

Hi wisteria you are welcome to come post on the recurrent miscarriage thread if you like. I've had 4 MC in the course of completing my family (now have 3 DC and am done!) but can't imagine how you've got through so many losses Sad
A lot of us have had success on the protocol from the Coventry implantation clinic which includes progestone from day 21 of your cycle ( or 7 DPO if you have long cycles) continuing if you get a BFP until 12 weeks. The theory is that some recurrent miscarriage is due to the uterine lining not preparing properly for pregnancy, resulting in it not being suitably receptive and selective. It needs to be receptive to allow decent embryos to implant, but also selective so duff embryos get rejected. If you fit the pattern of getting pregnant easily then miscarrying it may be relevant - many of us were told we were hyperfertile but nothing could be done until we went there.
