Let nature take its course or EPRC? Scared by both

Just had scan at 11weeks to be told no heartbeat. Devastated. Size put baby at just under 10weeks but I've had no symptoms of miscarriage.
I now have to tell them wether I want EPRC or let nature take its course and to be honest I am equally terrified of both options!

I suffer with auto immune condition (my body attacks me from inside even when no infection or illness present resulting in unpleasant symptoms). Just not sure what would happen if I let body deal with miscarriage naturally. Will my body go into massive overdrive whilst rejecting the baby etc!! Eeeeek!
Having the EPRC worries me cos of risk of infection etc which again will mean my immune system will go nuts!

Procedure has been provisionally booked in for Friday but there is always a chance I will miscarry naturally before hand.

Would appreciate any advice.

Thanks

I chose the surgery because I just wanted it over with as quickly as possible.

Could you speak to your doc that deals with your auto immune condition to see what he/she would recommend?

And sorry you going through this. It really and truly sucks.

Really sorry to see you here crazy (in the nicest possible way).
I only have experience of a natural mc and would opt for surgical if I had to make a choice. From a practical point of view, its very messy, difficult to manage and I'm still bleeding almost 2weeks on with no indication as to whether it was complete or not (I may end up having to have a d&c anyway). From an emotional point of view, it was soul destroying seeing everything and I really need it to be over and it isn't.
I understand there are downsides to eprc as well but have no experience of that.
The whole thing is just awful whatever you do.
sad

I'm really sorry for your loss. I was in your situation a few weeks ago. No option is easy obviously. I had mmc at 12 weeks but the baby had died at 7 weeks. I waited a further 2 weeks for the ERPC in the end, so on total the baby was in there for over 7 weeks without any signs if a natural mc.

The ERPC was very quick and easy. I am very scared of hospitals so I'm not just saying that to make you feel better, it really was ok as far as the procedure goes. I would imagine the risk of infection is minimal. However, It sounds like you do need a bit more info about specific risks relating to your condition.

Sending you lots of love and luck. You are not alone ANC this forum has kept me going.

I would just go with what the medics tell you is best in your condition. I had an ERPC after the birth of my first daughter as some products were retained. It was fine, no pain afterwards from what I remember, although I'd previously had a raging uterine infection, so it was a blessed relief.

I went on to have 3 more children so no subsequent fertility issues until now. There is no 'easy' option in this scenario, it's whatever is best for the individual.

So sorry for your loss. It's a horrible place to be in. I'm awaiting medical management on Weds, sad

Take things easy.

I'm so sorry, my first mmc I waited and waited to mc without help but it just didn't happen so had erpc, the 2nd and 3rd I opted for erpc right away, no pain and very little bleeding, there is a very good thread on here about what to expect when you mc that is worth a look, hugs xx

Thanks everyone. I value your opinions.

I decided for EPRC. Have to be at hospital 7am thurs morning. I have no signs of miscarriage yet at all (no bleeding, pain or cramps) so who knows how long my body would take to reject the baby etc. I couldn't think if carrying on my normal daily life knowing my poor jellybean inside me is no longer alive. Sorry if that sounds grim but I just feel like I need to get through this next stage and then I can grieve.

Take care of yourselves, ladies x
