incomplete mc - what to do?

I've had a missed mc - had some light bleeding at 10 weeks so had an emergency scan, which showed the embryo had stopped developing at around 6 weeks. I was going to have an ERPC but then nature took its course and I spent the early hours of Saturday morning on the loo, lots of cramping, and passed the sac and had some heavy bleeding.

But then after that episode the bleeding was quite light straight away, and only when I went to the the loo, and what I passed was quite thick and gloopy. Had a scan on Wednesday which showed the mc was incomplete - about another 1.5mm or so of lining still to come away, plus there's a cavity where the sac was, so the lining is not yet smooth.

And now I don't know what to do. I've pretty much stopped bleeding altogether. The nurse at the EPU says I can wait for nature to complete the process and have another scan at 2 weeks (not sure what she'd advise after that), but given that there's no sign of that happening, today I just booked myself in for an ERPC next Thursday. Was that rash of me? Perhaps if I left it to happen naturally, I'd just have a heavy period when my cycle resumes? Or is it best to get it all cleared out now?

This is my first experience of any of this, and I can't find any best advice on how to manage an incomplete mc.

I had an incomplete miscarriage in October. I had an ERPC as the doctor said I needed to to prevent infection/hemmoraging. I am sorry for your loss :(

personally I'd have the ERPC without any doubt. I had an infection from retained products & was very, very ill & it caused ongoing problems :( - after subsequent losses I insisted on an ERPC. I've found them far easier to recover from than natural or medicated mc & I've always conceived very quickly post ERPC.

Thank you, banana87 and Phlebas, for sharing your hard- and sadly-earned wisdom. Sound advice; I'm just back from the day procedure unit where I had the ERPC today. All very straightforward, and it will be good to start moving on.
