You are young to be having these symptoms. 52 is average age of menopause. Can you say why you don't want HRT because it's medically recommended for women having an early-ish menopause (for long term health reasons.)

Don't want hrt as know two people who have developed breast cancer after going on it so would rather avoid if at all possible. Also I feel the symptoms I'm experiencing aren't enough to take that risk.

have been peri meno for the last year or so. don't think it's particularly early?

If you have had peri symptoms since 43 then that is early. Average age of meno is 52 so yes that means some women will be 47 and others 56, etc but before 45 (some drs say 47) is considered early.

I'd really suggest that you look at the research and scientific figures for breast cancer and HRT. It is impossible to 'blame' HRT for breast cancer in any one or two women because who knows if the women would have developed it anyway? Lifestyle increases the risks more than HRT.

You can't make a judgement on anything by looking at anecdotal evidence such as friends/ acquaintances, you have to look at scientific trials which include hundreds of thousands of women. Two alcoholic drinks a day, or being overweight, or not taking exercise are statistically higher risks for breast cancer than HRT ( see Menopause Matters site and HRT risk and benefits tables.)

I can see I'm not going to persuade you ! But it's important for other people reading to know the science.

Have you tried a wool duvet and linen sheets?

sage tablets. Or Menopace Herbal with the sage in. And I know that this works, because the sweats come back when I stop taking it.

Wicking bed linen. Seriously good. I bought some for my dad when his cancer caused massive night sweats and he loved it - if you google the companies are all aimed at women (night sweats from the menopause being a much bigger market than men with cancer)

It's made from the same fabric as running gear so wicks the sweat off your body. We'd tried cotton/natural fibre sheets etc which were rubbish. Wicking duvet, pillows and sheets was amazing - even when he went into hospital he insisted on having his wicking stuff with him!

Being a man, the only thing we couldnt buy was wicking pyjamas but for women there were loads of options for night wear as well.

Remember to give some thought to what you wear to sleep as well. Cotton can be almost as dreadful as synthetics.

Baavet, Devon Duvets and Soak & Sleep all seem to garner praise for their wool duvets - depending on your budget of course.

Crossed with Wolpertinger. Guess you could try both.

Wool duvet. Transformed my sleep.

Also used memo pace, no idea if coincidence or not, but fewer night sweats.

Second what pink frocks says about hrt though, I started peri menopause about your age and hrt helped as well as replacing oestrogen too.

and following on from the pp, you don't count your years of 'risk' using HRT until you hit average age of meno (52) because you are simply replacing what you'd be expected to have- so that's a good 8 years you could benefit from it. Have a read about early meno and risks to bones and heart- sobering and heart disease / osteoporosis kill more women than cancer.

Just want to echo what pinkfrocks has said! Also there is little evidence that "natural" remedies work - although I understand how you feel as this is what I initially felt until I realised ( as I got further towards menopause) that my remedies were doing nothing so "resorted" to HRT (that's how I viewed it at the time). So pleased that I did and have always used the most natural type ( body identical hormones) - and have enjoyed better quality of life and sleep for the past 8 years!
