My partner left me for the numerous, and last time may I add a month ago. We had a wedding planned for next year in Cuba n everything. Travel agents cancellation would be a loss in everything we've paid so far! Would i be a terrible mother to go on the holiday with my sister and leave d.d (who will then be 3) for a week???

I cant even bare to think about leaving her for a week right now, but I also dont want to chuck all that money down the drain after everything thats happened.

Am I being selfish? (Honestly)

sounds like a break is what you need and it would save the holiday getting wasted.

It sounds like its a while away so you can spend lots of time with your dd now and then leave her to get spoiled for a week while you have a break next year.

I'd go for it.

EG, can't you take her with you?

Go into the travel agent and explain the situation, they may be able to get you ger a place with you and your sister.

Although by next year she may have become used to her new domestic arrangements and if your xp has regular contact with her and she's well used to going to his place and spending time with him without you, then it might be a good opportunity for him to spend time with her.

Thanks guys. I did think about taking her, but feel the flight is too long to put her through (10 hours) and she hates the heat. When ex and I booked it, we decided it would unsettle her more to take her.

She's very adaptable, and has been used to going 35 miles every weekend to her Dads on the numerous times we havent been together, so I know she'll be well looked after. Just a fight I've got going on in my on head!!!!!

Im sure by then I'll be glad of a break....I hope!

It is only natural for you to has concerns but GO GO GO Enjoy yourself, your dd will be fine and you can return from a fab holiday refreshed and ready to take on anything. Who were you going to leave her with originally? Could they still look after her for part of the week?

She was going to stay with my now ex in laws. They no doubt would still help a lot if ex p was having her.

definately go go go go go go !!!

no point in losing the money you've paid etc. sounds like your dd has a good relationship with her dad and you are comfortable with the level of care etc that she will get when she's with him and her GPs.

GO!

ps: you are totally NOT being selfish! 4 weeks ago I left my mum at my house with dd and stayed in a hotel for the night! i really needed a break and i wanted dd's first night without me to be at home rather than at GPs. only 24 hours i admit but dd barely noticed I wasn't there! Have since had a very successful 2-night stay at GPs too.

Go and enjoy the nice break (and try not to phone home every hour!)

I had a weekend away recently and left the kids (almost 3 and 5yrs) with the pils, they had a ball and never even asked for me. Made me a bit sad really, but better than them being unhappy. And they were really excited to see me come home.

can you not exchange the holiday for something nearer home and take your sister and your daughter on holiday (IE) spain

I know, you're all right. I doubt she'd even know I was gone! ha ha.

Im sure it'll be fine. Tho, have to confess, I changed the hol yest so I'm only going to be 5 hours away rather than 10 n a half hours! Made me feel lots better!

Go and have a break. You deserve it. I would. There will be a few people that might think you are bad but as long as you are leave the said child with a responsable adult with contact numbers given, chill out and go.
