Ex Partner not reliable for childcare - what do you think

hello

I've recently split with my partner. I work full time mon - fri 9 -5.

DS currently goes to nursery from 8.45 - 3.30 Mon and Tues and ex-p picks him up.

Then ex-p looks after him on his two days off - wed and thur and he goes to nursery all day on friday.

Exp is not very reliable, espicially in the mornings. When we were together it used to take me ages to wake him up and get him out of bed. NOw I have to call him to wake him up.

This morning he did not wake up through about 20 calls and by the time he finally answered it was 8.20 I had been trying to make alternative childcare arrangements as I just cannot be late for work at the moment ( I need to deal with someone I line manage's time keeping so not good if am late myself!)

I really cannot afford another two days of nursery per week plus I wand DS to see his Daddy. WHat can I do - I am fed up getting stressed about whether I can wake up exp (who is a heavy drinker and can sleep through anything so am not surprised his phone does not wake him)

Any suggestions welcome

I wouldnt rely on him at all, he's a grown adult so shouldnt need waking, I would look into 5 days a week childcare and benefit from the wtc childcare allowance and just pay the extra, or reduce you hours at work which you probably wont want to do.

I was very angry with him yesterday as I really do not need to be worrying about childcare arrangements as am ill and v busy at work.

I need to have a proper chat with him about arrangements - ie childcare and finances but at the moment I just do not have the strength!

I think that as an adult he should be able to get up himself but I lived with him for 4 years and he never ONCE got out of bed without me practically begging him. I think it may end up with me travelling accross town to take DS to his, rather than relying on him to get to mine (as he seems to be under the impression that he can hang out at mine all day watching telly and making himself cups of tea - when I got back last night I noticed that the iron was out - I never iron - so he'd been ironing his shirt at mine!!!!)

Why does it have to be so complicated.
