That I am now a member of MN for two years and have rarely if ever been over here on the Lone parents section, despite being a lone parent on and off for the past 20 years! I could go into a big ramble about why not but I won't. So that's about it really. Oh I have a dd 20 and a ds 6. Hello fellow lone parents.

Hello! I'm a lone parent too and I actually hardly ever come onto this section either. I usually just click on 'last 15 minutes' or 'last hour' at the top and get a selection of threads from different categories that way.

My DD is 8 and I've been lone parenting from the start. I've been a member for months, but only started posting (ok...becoming addicted!) fairly recently.

Hi ForeverBlowingBubbles nice to see another lone parent virgin! You would think having been here so long I would be an old hand at diving in and out of threads but tbh I've mostly ever only residied on chat, at times have left for a bit, posted for a bit and lurked for a bit. Anyway thanks for your post.

Hi mamama, ooh I just had a peak at your profile and see your residing in the windy city, have you been there long? I would love to travel there some day and accidently on purpose bump in Goran (can't spell his name hunky er doc) Yes, they should have bitter etc emoticon, personally I'd love a "I'm going slightly loopy" one.

Ps
I'm in Dublin and it's blimmin piddly and windy here today.

Yes, I'm in the Windy City - you must visit one day - I love it and will be very sad to leave. It is an amazing place (but don't come in winter!)

ER is sometimes filmed on the roof of the hospital where I had DS - the helicopter pad is above the maternity ward! I can see it from my front room. Never bumped into anyone famous though (although did see David Schwimmer on his bike one day if that counts!)

Dublin is one of those places I've always meant to visit but never have. One day...

Am I correct in thinking you can see the maternity wing from your front room also? Sorry but psml, someone in mamama's room, "So where did you have ds? mamama's "Erm, points out the window, over there"

Also OMG wow! can't wait to tell dd 20 that you saw David Schwimmer on his bike, she is obsessed with friends, to the point that we went on a friends tour while visiting New York three years ago.

Oh do try and come to Dublin some day and hey if we are both still MNrs I'll stand you a pint/cocktail/spirit/wine/coffee erm, you get the idea.

Sorry if I'm being nosy but you said you will be sad to leave, is that as in you are definatly leaving also one last nosy parker question, are you originally from the States?

Erm, that's about right Mhamai - the hospital is hidden behind and old looking castle-like/ oxford/ cambridge college type building but I can more or less see where DS was born from my apartment!

Chicago is good for Celeb spotting (although I never see them - I walk around with my eyes colsed) - there are lots of them around here. David schwimmer owns a theatre company here (and apparently Ross in friends is based on my H's boss - he went to college with one of the producers).

And yes, I'm a Brit and am definitley leaving (long boring divorce story)
