Making our Xmas special

And not feel like it's just one, looooooooong day struggling to keep DD happy/amused!

So, this year is our 1st proper 'nobody but us' Xmas as no visitors, no invites elsewhere and just the 2 of us to make the day go smoothly. I've been fretting a lot about this, my worst fear is always that I'm just not enough for DD, that she'll be lonely and hate me for being a billy-no-mates etc. you get the idea!

So, this year, I've decided that Xmas dinner will be a joint effort - DD loves making stuff so we'll make some lentil soup for our starter, she can peel some veg (she's just getting the hang of doing this so it's still a novelty Grin) and I think we'll have a bash at some cheesecake for dessert. I've ordered a nice Xmas table cloth and some Santa hat chair covers, and I'm going to try and get some Xmas themed crockery for our table (if funds can stretch that far).

For presents, I've ordered DD 2 new (2nd hand) wii games, 2 new (2nd hand) DS games, and a new board game that we can play to 'kill' some of the day after having a go at the wii. She's also getting some other bits n bobs that will hopefully keep her amused, and we'll finish the day off with a nice Xmas themed movie to watch with lots of Xmas munchies.

That's my plan. Whether it pans out I'm not sure but it's all I've come up with and I'm hoping it makes it special for DD.

Anyone else want to add their plans?

Sounds lovely paneer. I'm tempted to get a onesie Grin I like the idea of cooking in a onesie on Xmas day and lounging about til bedtime, all gravy stained and festive!

Definitely a gift wrapped cardboard bix with new pjs/0
onesie, a Christmas DVD, munchies and sachets of hot choc and cookies so you can snuggle down together. I LOVE our quiet Christmases-especially when I hear the neighbours arguing through the walls Grin

First Christmas without going anywhere or seeing anyone on the actual day here to.

As I'm getting Christmas dinner on Christmas eve and boxing day I'm not cooking it on the day to.

Any ideas for treat food that won't have me slaving away in the kitchen and nominal washing up?

Have done ps3 games and a few board games to, well jenga and alien kerplunk I don't have the patience for proper board games.

Going to buy myself pirates of the Caribbean box set to watch as the dc loved the first one and they haven't seen the rest. and I fucking love jack sparrow

I love Christmas just hope it's not going to feel to strange not seeing anyone.
