Brussels - anyone got a "hypermobile" child ?

We are moving to Brussels in a couple of weeks.
Our dd3 has "hypermobility" (aka old fashioned double jointed-ness), in her ankles & knees.
She is receiving physio in UK, but wondered what if anyone knew how this condition is dealt with in Belgium? Any tips etc would be great! Thanks!

Hi,
I'm in Brussels. I don't know anything about hypermobility, but I expect she could be treated by a "kiné", which is the equivalent of a physiotherapist. I guess you'll be getting a GP in Brussels when you move, and they would be able to recommend a good kiné. Hope that helps a bit.

You might also want to check out psychomotricien and ergotherapeute - they are more like the equiv. of occupational therapy.
(Not in Belgium, I'm in France, but there tends to be some similarity).

Hi again,
When I picked up my son from nursery school yesterday, I noticed they had the card of a paediatric physiotherapist, it says on the card that he deals with "psychomotricité infantile", so I reckon this what you're looking for. His name is Marc Bénit, tel: 00 32 2 672 96 47. Also, if you're also looking for a paediatrician, ours is on the same street as this guy, and he's really good (Dr. Hannesse). They're in Auderghem, do you know which part of Brussels you'll be living in ?

Thanks for the info!
We will be living in Overijse, not sure how far from Auderghem that is?

Its not too far, they're both on the south side of Brussels, but you would need to drive (I guess around 10min not in rush hour), definitely not walking distance. Auderghem is closer into the centre of Brussels.
If you need any other tips, I'm happy to help. I've lived in Brussels most of my life so I know it pretty well. Also there are plenty of useful expat websites.
By the way, Overijse is a lovely neighbourhood.

What year groups will they be in? If you need help email me on [email protected] and I'll give you all my contact details. I am in Tervuren with a year 9 lad at BSB, and he has been there since year 6, so I am fairly up to speed.

Good luck with the move as well.

They'll enjoy BSB. Make sure you have your thermals to hand as it is freezing here. It was -5 when we went out for the bus this morning and is supposed to snow again tomorrow.

Yes - it is blimming freezing! Snow forecast. Good luck with the move. I'm off in the other direction on Saturday - to UK for the weekend.

They have Rainbows and Brownies here if you're interested in that sort of thing. Dd goes to Rainbows at Kraainem, but I think the nearer one to you is either based at BSB or St Pauls in Vossem.

You can email me too if you need help with anything.
