Americans - what do you miss from the US?

I would like to send a food parcel to someone now living in France. I live in the US but cannot imagine what I would miss if I moved away. What shall I send?

Difficult without knowing the person....but as an American living in the UK, here's what I wanted:

I don't think she's a foodie. I suspect Graham Crackers, Dirty Rice, Jello Pudding and ranch dressing mix would be perfect.

I think the only thing I'd want is a bigger kitchen.

Ok, I'm going to tell you my dirty little secret. I spend forever making my kids mac and cheese from scratch, using cheddar and fontina and roasting tomatoes, but I hate it. I'd rather have a box of powdered orange goop any day.

i use 'sharp cheddar' to make my own, reall cheddar just doesn't taste the same

I love sharp cheddar. That's the only cheddar I'd have on hand, but DH doesn't like it. I did find a stovetop mac and cheese recipe I can eat, but still don't like it as much as the bright orange stuff.

What's BSE?

I thought I'd gotten over boxed mac n'cheese--then I got pregnant. It became an obsession. Dragged DH to Trafford Centre on a Sunday afternoon (hell) because I read on some expat forum that two years previously, kraft mac n'cheese was sighted in Selfridges.

Thankfully it was there. Couldn't wait to get home, ate orange powder from the packet on the way. Three family size boxes were demolished in two days.

This thread is a little old and I'm sure you sent your package already, but I wanted to mention cherry licorice! Preferably Nibs! I would get a craving around 4pm for it and couldn't find it anywhere!!!

Well, I miss really good service without attitude (which is possible but not probable here), but if you are talking food...

• akmak crackers
• wheat thins (original, none of this flavoured doo-dah)
• ben&Jerry's that isn't 5 bloomin dollars a pint
• plain tortilla chips (yah, I know I can buy doritos, but I want choice, baby!)
• good mexican / cali-mex food (never in 15 years had decent mexican food in UK)

Interesting - I'll give you Mexican Food but I don't think I have any of the others and I live in a fairly mixed area by a relatively good hospital.

I am going for mexican food next week.And had some last week - fabulous.
