UK to Singapore Moving Recommendations?

Thought it'd be better to start a separate thread for this vs the request for apartment recommendations.

If anyone has used a moving company that they felt did a great job getting you and your things to Singapore I'd be very grateful for their details.

We're planning to take minimal furniture, mainly kitchen things, linens, clothes, toys and other personal items. I'm toying with taking our expensive leather set (smaller-sized corner sofa) but have seen some forum postings from people saying theirs turned up with mold after the trip so any experience there would be welcome too.

Thanks so much!

We used a relocation agent called k2 relocation and they were excellent. Out leather sofa didnt go mouldy but i did constantly stick to it so in the end bought a material one

Find someone who has experience of shipping personal effects to singapore. Most containers will include huge dehimidifiers hanging from the ceiling and use thousands of silica sachets in boxes to keep stuff dry. Try larger companies like allied pickfords, Santa Fe, crown etc

We used Rapid Shipping to ship a similar amount. They were excellent. I asked them to put extra silica bags in with our mattress, which they were happy to do, although I reminded them about this every time I was in contact with them, in case the request was forgotten! Very good price and excellent customer service in both London and Singapore. Everything arrived in perfect condition. Good luck with your move!

I've seen Anglo Pacific recommended a few times by friends/friends of friends in Singapore.

I'm pretty sure it was Allied Pickford who did ours moving to Malaysia and they were great. Helpful sensible packers (didn't pack the kitchen bin and it's contents or anything similarly daft like the horror stories we'd heard).
No mould, a couple of scuffs on the corner of one leather sofa and fairly quickly afterwards our walking boots fell apart! Apparently it's a known problem with shipping through the tropics - temperatures get so high the glue holding the soles on melts!

Allied pickford were great. Santa Fe on the receiving end was great.
It will all go very smoothly in Singapore as you are likely to be in a condo. Their security/doorman will handle it all for you as the movers have to have a date and permit to deliver. So all you have to worry about is unpacking methodically so you you are up and running the minute they leave the house. (yes, it can be done).

Asian tigers are the biggest outfit here to receive relocating expats. Worth contacting them to ask about who of their UK partners has a shipment going soon. They can handle all the rest.

We used Crown and they were excellent. We shipped pretty much our whole house and they didn't break a thing. The packing and unpacking teams were both very professional.

Make sure your condo knows you are moving in as they will want a deposit against damage to the lifts and will probably want to pad the lifts and put flooring down to protect marble tiles in foyers.

The movers should organise for a deposit cheque not you.

Thank you for the extra info esp around moving into condo. Hubby has decided to go with Bournes that was recommended by a colleague. (Had heard both good and bad around Crowne and allied pick fords)
