Gaps in property history/electoral roll?? Advice needed

Trying to help my DN out but I am a bit clueless about legal stuff.

Will try and give the whole picture and hope it makes sense!

Dn moved house with her family in August 2011. In august 2012, she bought her own property and started paying council tax etc on it and setting up accounts in her name for electricity and gas etc (it was a new build so nothing previous to go on). It was more an investment rather than to live in as she couldn't afford the furniture so has stayed living with her family.

She was somehow removed from the electoral roll at her parents house (probably down to my db) but didn't actually put her name to her own property via the electoral roll until Christmas 2013. She is still with her parents now due to some problems with the property and therefore her driving lisence etc are all under their address.

So technically she has a gap where according to the electoral roll she wasn't registered as living anywhere. Is that right?

She wants to apply for a passport and is worried about the gaps and confusion about where she was/has been since 2011.

Anyone advise? (I've told her the collectice knowledge of Mn will know as no-one in real life seems sure Confused.)

It doesn't matter

Does she have a bank account that has been sending her statements? or a credit card? or a mobile phone?

She says she has all 3 of those but all to her parents address!

so what is the problem?
her official address was her parents one then

Yes it was, but according to the electoral roll she wasn't and isn't registered as being a resident there! I think she was worried when she fills in the address history for her passport and DBS check that she doesn't know what to put!

There's no such thing as an "official address". It's not obligatory to be registered to vote. You're worrying about nothing.

It's irrelevant, the passport agency won't care.

Sorry to bring this thread back up but it seemed easier than starting a new one.

She tried to get a credit card and couldn't because her credit score was bad. She said they told her it was because she has a void in where she lived for over a year. Is this right??!

She asked me what to do my db is very much the 'sort yourself' out type but I have no idea what to advise. Can she backdate the electoral roll?

The council will not change the electoral roll retrospectively.

If she is having trouble getting credit, she could try some of the tips for improving your credit score on Money Saving Expert.
