I'll try to keep this short, apologies in advance as I'm on my phone.

3 years ago I shared house with ea boyfriend. After 4months I broke up with him. He trashed a room and I suggested that he leave unless he could control himself. He decided to leave, I have emails stating that it was his choice. He didn't move any of his furniture out. He wouldn't leave me alone after I'd asked him not to and I'd moved out of the house, returned my key to the letting agents. The amount of stuff I was getting was awful, dozens of text messages, phonecalls, emails, I changed my phone number. Eventually the police gave him a first warning under the harassment act. The bills were in both of our names, paid out of his account, I paid a set amount in to his account.

Have done a credit report and it states that there's a ccj awarded against me in Nov 2009. I moved out may/June 2009; the lease was until July.

I've phoned the court listed on the credit report as, to my knowledge I have no debts. Turns out it's been issued from the water company. I phoned the water company and they said that ex had closed the joint water account and opened a new one in just my name. Without my knowledge or consent. Surely they can't do this? I didn't phone to close the account because as far as I knew ex was moving back and going to stay there. So this account that ex opened in my name (as stated by the water company), he opened in May to close in December.

So my credit is now screwed. Water company have said that I need a letter from the letting agents to prove that I'd moved out and they will remove it. However will the ccj and big negative remain on my credit score? I'm so angry that ex was allowed to do this! Do I have any legal right to have it blanked off my credit history and compensation from the water company. I don't understand how a new account can be opened in a person's name who has not consented, has no knowledge of it and who hasn't set it up!

This explains why my new mortgage application got refused! The rest of my credit is excellent.
