What happens in a family law case if you are on holiday on the date you have been given for a hearing - would they be prepared to change it or would you just sent a sol. or have to cancel holiday?

You have to ask the other side if they'll adjourn. If so, you do a joint letter asking the court to adjourn and explaining the reason. Also provide a list of future dates to avoid.

if the other side refuse to adjourn make an application direct to the court. You'll need to pay a fee, think it's £45 but not certain.

Thanks very much for that.
I have a couple of holidays booked - both done before this guy got back in contact 6 years after he walked out on us.
