When is the matrimonial asset pot calculated from?

I wonder if someone can give me some advice.

If I separate from my DH for a period before divorce is the value of the matrimonial assets to be shared on divorce calculated from the point that we started to live separately or from when we divorce?

I am considering a trial separation but am concerned that it is just a delaying tactic and that we will use up all our money before the divorce so I will not be able to afford to buy him out of the matrimonial home.

Some advice would be great

Only the assets that remain at the time the order is made can be divided.

If one spouse wastes assets then that might get added back in to the pot notionally. But there are no guarantees.

Thanks for this Collaborate. Bit of a bummer but at least I know the score.
