Will executor question

I'm just updating my will. What's the usual sort of amount that people leave their friends as a thank you for acting as their named executors?

Hi, I'm a willwriter and most people don't give gifts to their executors, in my experience.

If you would like to give them something, it should be proportionate to the amount of time they'd need to spend versus the value of your estate.

Don't give a gift from the residuary estate, ie a percentage, but a specific pecuniary legacy.

So maybe around £1k to £2k, but you need to word your will carefully so that the gift is contingent on their acting for you and obtaining the Grant.

Thanks mumblechum1. It seems like I was thinking about the right amount and carefully worded as you recommend.

It seems a shame that most people don't give a thank you as I imagine executors have to give up a fair bit of time to ensure everything's sorted out.
