Hello everyone

We are seriously considering number 3 at the moment (DS1 is 5 and DS2 3.5). However, at the moment we only have 2 bedrooms. The boys have bunkbeds in their room, we have cellar and attic for storage and are ok for space at the moment.

If we had DC3 we would be looking to move somewhere bigger within the next 2 years, but am worried how we would all fit in whilst we are still in this house.

Baby would be in our room for a while anyway - but would be interested to hear from anyone else who has been in this situation and how they coped with space/sleeping arrangements etc.

Thanks

I don't but a friend of mine has three children who are now 6,4 and 2 and are in a 2 bedroom house. At the moment I think the two older ones have bunkbeds in one room and the youngest one is in the same room as the parents although he may be going to move into the same room as the older ones soon.

They haven't had any problems with it (and I think have a super king size bed which sometimes fills up eith children!)

We were using 2 bedrooms when DC3 was born. We do have a futher bedroom but the house was being renovated.
It worked out fine, the two eldest had bunk beds and the baby was in with us for a year. Both bedrooms are large doubles so it didn't seem like a squeeze at all.

You say you would look at moving in 2 years which I think gives you pleanty of time, 9 months of pregnancy and a cot in your room for however long your DC is in it infact we're thinking along the same lines about planning DC4 in our 3 bed

I think room elsewhere in the house to store all the DC's parafanalia is more important and you have that so your sorted.

Our house has 2 double bedrooms and we have 4 and 3 yr old boys in their room in bunk beds and 1yr old DS3 in his cot on opposite wall.

Works fine - enough room.

DC4 is due in April and is a girl, so they say, so will be in our room for a while anyway and we are planning to move asap.

my friends did - they moved!
They were in the 2-bed for about 15mo after the youngest was born. dc3 was in their bedroom for most of the time, then in cot in the kids bedroom, dc1 & dc2 in bunkbeds.

Another house in their terrace had 3 teenage kids (mix of sexes) which must be hard.

We have 4 children in a 3 bedroom house. Eldest DD1(11) has the box room, DD2(almost3) and DS1(19 months) share the biggest bedroom, one in a cot the other in a bed while DS2(6 months) shares a room with us in a cot. We wont be moving for several years as money to tight now that i'm not working so eventually we will have 3 toddlers in the large room, one single and probably bunk beds. It's a bit of a squash at times as they have so many toys and clothes between them but i honestly dont think sharing a room does them any harm when they're little. At some point we'll want to move DD2 out of the room with her brothers but for the time being she loves sharing.

We have 5 in a two bedroom house, has now reached madness levels!
Ages, dd1 9, dd2 7, dd3 6, dd4 2 in one bedroom with a toddler bed, bunkbed and a single, and ds 4 months is still in with us.
Building an extension to make the house into four bedroom, I have only noticed the shortage of space this winter.....they spend alot of time outside which has made life easier!

technically no, we ahve a 3 bedroom house, but as one bedroom is the official offfice/junk room we actually only have 2 that are used as bedrooms

atm ds1 and ds2 share. we have space to give them bunkbeds and have a junior bed for the baby one he is old enough, so i don't think we'll be moving for a while yet.

baby will be in with us until he is at least a year though i would imagine, can't be doing with getting up to do night feeds! lol

ds1 currently sleeps on a thuka midsleeper. we chose it because it can be turned into a low bed, a high sleeper, bunks and also into a full-size single.
so when ds2 is old enough we'll get another shorty bed and make them into bunks, and put ds3 into ds2's little junior bed.

could you do a loft conversion?

We've got 4 in a small 3 bed, the baby always got the nursery until they were nearly a year so had 3 sharing for quite a whiles, then 2 & 2 and then we converted the loft.

Have friends who have 3 in a tiny 2 bed starter home, not even convinced that the 2nd room is a double - probably is technically!!! It's about 7' deep and 12' across so bunks on one side, bed on the other and some drawers in the middle, small kitchen, open plan lounge diner and you step into the front room straight off the street, tiny garden too.

They had the baby in with them for ages (until about 18 months I think) and hope to move when the youngest goes to school so they will be 4.4, nearly 5 and nearly 10 then. Fortunately they are all the same sex.
