Jealousy of large families

I have been reading some of the comments those of you with large families have to put up with. It makes me so angry, especially as my Mum is one of the 'should only have two' brigade. It seems that you just ignore it though and get on with enjoying your children and family.

I think it is probably jealousy. I am not suggesting all those with one or two kids are jealous but those who feel the need to make nasty comments. It is such a personal choice, how many kids you have.

I am pregnant with number 2, but would like at least 3. Can't wait to see my mother's face if I ever get to tell her I am pregnant with number 3!

The thing is, it's pretty relentess, if it was the odd comment you could just ignore but people constantly harp on about all those children, you know all 3 of them, it gets wearing you know ?

I've got three and it is the best thing I ever did. I always wanted three and my two older girls really spoil my little boy. It is hard work, but if you can financially afford them and you have a good support network I do not see it is anyone's business how many you have. In reply to the last thread it made me smile because when I told my mum I was pregnant with my third, she nearly passed out!!

Congrats largeglass - I have 3 and have nearly convinced dh that 4 would be lovely !
Think its madness people give you looks for being pg with number 4. Tell them to get a grip!

My dad (one of 16 fgs LOL) keeps saying 'you won't have any mroe will you?'

Now I think Christmas expense may be the root but if I wanted more (and really 4 is as much as I can cope with even though I'd like more) my dad telling me not to would just force the 13 year old in me to go for it!.

Luckily DH has his eyes far more firmly n sense

Is 4 really that big though?

I dunno that it is, Dh thinks it is obv. but he's a bloke.

I haven't had too many comments about expecting no.4, but I do suspect that there has been a bit of secret muttering behind doors.

I suspect people won't dare say anything to my face

A couple of friends said "you must be mad!", but they aren't the sort of mothers who would have/cope with 4 so I just shrug it off.

I feel a little bit sorry for those children who are one of two, seems kinda lonely to me.

Actually, Dh said something very nice the other day when driving our new car, which fits everyone in,...he said

" aw look at them in the back, doesn't it look right to have all the seats full?"

Numbskull! Still I'm glad he's on board and happy

Is 3 children really classed as a large family? I'm pg with no3... and lots of people are still asking me if i'm having more, and sound a bit sad for me that i wont be.... not that i wouldn't love a football field full of my beautiful children, but becasue of what i've suffered so far this time with Hyperemesis- DH has put his foot down that he doesn't want to see me go through this again... fair play on him!!

3 is looking entirely sane from my seat.

I think when Psychomum5 started the "feckin fecund" topic, she and others thought 4 qualified as a 'larger family', but I'm not sure.

It's clearly insane, but not sure if it tips the scales of large IYSWIM

He'll forget glaskhamhasoneintheoven. My Dh said that when I was PG with DS3 because of Hyperemesis and early labours etc. but it was all soon forgotten and I soon managed to convince him we should have a 4th. We are now expecting in April and hes only muttered 'I told you so' on one of my several hopital admissions this year!
