No jewellery at Egg Collection?

Just had my EC info pack ready for EC on Wednesday. Read through the no perfume, deodorant, hair spray, nail varnish, make up or jewellery? Earrings, necklaces and rings are fine but
Does this include tongue piercings?
As once the bar it out, the hole will close up within 20 minutes ( already had it happen once )
Can anyone who's already been through EC shed some light please?
Thanks X

Definitely DEFINITELY no tongue piercing. You're having sedation and if they have to put a tube down your throat then a tongue piercing could be very harmful. Anaesthetist will ask you about any crowns etc which obvs you can't do anything about. But I would be very very surprised if they didn't tell you to take your tongue piercing out

It's an absolute sink hole for bacteria so letting it close might be a good option whilst you go through the whole process.

It's standard in the UK to have sedation or a general. I had sedation which meant I was knocked out but only needed an oxygen mask, no tube down my throat - but there's always a chance you might, hence they'll make you take all jewelery off. Plus you'll have ECG pads on your chest etc to monitor you during the anaesthetic

My ERPC and two hysteroscopies were under a general and they both did involve a tube down my throat

That's basically the difference between sedation and a GA - one you can breathe for yourself, and might be conscious and talking but will have amnesia and to all intents and purposes will think you've had a general - except you'll recover more quickly. A general you need a tube to help you breathe and usually take slightly longer to come round

And no nail varnish so they can take your pulse ox on your finger!

Don't need to take your toenail polish off if you wear it. I recommend some snazzy socks if your clinic allow them (some get you to wear sexy compression stockings, which you'll def need if you're having a general. Most clinics do IV sedation though. Same drugs, just less of them than a general)
