GP is being nasty and evil re: IVF

Hi I am new to this so I apologize if I've posted this in the wrong place etc but I need to get this off my chest and wondered if anyone else has similar experiences. I am in my 40's and have embarked on IVF. I didn't bother telling my doctor as they wouldn't have paid for it anyway due to my age, you cannot get a doctors appointment for weeks, and as I am single I figured I'd go and research and chose my own clinic. Eventually due to all the blood tests I had to have the GP found out and on my last visit launched into me. I was told off like a schoolchild for 'running off and going to clinics', going to people she had never heard of (yes, I was tempted to say 'you need to get out more'). I sat there as she knocked me sideways with nasty and unfeeling comments shouted at me, such as "what are you thinking!" I got the impression I had been the sole talking point for her and her cronies over coffee for a few days on the trot. I am a very strong, capable and well educated woman but her unexpected onslaught left me feeling like I had been verbally assaulted. How I managed not to break down in tears is a miracle. Had she suddenly jumped up to reveal she was actually dressed in the regalia of the Spanish inquisition I wouldn't have been at all surprised. She had nothing good to say about my IVF consultant and seemed determined to knock her down even though she says she's never heard of her (she is all over the internet by the way). Consequently, she is now playing mardy in that she will not change prescriptions for me unless she has written requests from the consultant. I know this is horseshit as legally, because she (my GP) prescribed, then she is responsible for monitoring etc., and not the consultant. I have sat here tonight contemplating buying a bucket with a lid, filling it with horseshit and visiting my GP with the deliberate intention of throwing it all over her. I have also contemplated knifing her; this worries me as anyone who has ridden the emotional rollercoaster of IVF will know just how upset and touchy we get with people who we perceive as getting in the way of our aim. Quite honestly I fucking hate her and hope her fanny heals up. I do have every intention of moving doctors once I am pregnant as at the moment with it all going on I cannot face moving to another doctors surgery - besides which they all know each other and she would poison them before I'd even set foot in the door. Does anyone have any advice to offer? Some words of wisdom would be appreciated.
