Hi we have been ttc for around 4 years we have one dd who is 4 1/2. since she was born I have had 4 periods (one of which because on norethisteron) no natural period in over 2 years . Also have excessive hair and have gained alot of weigh , skin tags and some acne on my arms. I suspected pcos as does my docter but ultrasound scan yesterday said everything was fine no cysts and no obvious problems , doctor will get results by next week so I will make appointment to discuss but in the meantime does this mean its not pcos ?? is it possible or even likely to have pcos but no cysts ?? and if not any ideas what it could be ??. So frustrating just want answers now and hopefully some help.

The cystic follicles associated with PCOS can and do disappear only to be replaced by further cystic follicles. Also it can take a skilled person to actually spot the cystic follicles as these are very small. Polycystic ovaries can appear larger than normal (walnut) size too.

Have you had blood tests done to date?. If so what have these indicated?.

Is the GP going to refer you to a gynae at a subfertility unit?

thanks for replying AttilaTheMeerkat . The lady doing the ultrasound said my ovaries are small .

I had day 21 blood tests and it showed I had'nt ovulated , but the hormone tests all came back normal.
Gp has sent referal to gynae so just waiting for appointment to come but she has warned it can take a while.
