it sounds like a simulation game which got out of hand. I quite often do this sort of thing in class ( simulations etc) but obviously it's always based on the premise that it's not actually true! I owuld expect Year 9s not to be so susceptible to such extreme fantasy though. I suppose he is a convincing teacher.....

Wasn't there a similar story a while back where it had a similar effect? Children were huddled under desks phoning their parents on their mobiles to say their last goodbyes etc.
