Couple in court on neglect charge

My MIL told me of this story yestersay. Apparantly it was a 7 year old girl who alerted the police. The babies are very poorly and it is not known whether they will survice.

I just can't understand why people would go on producing children if they had no intention of looking after them properly.

This sort of thing makes me so f*cking angry . These animals should be locked up and forcibly sterilised. Poor kids, what a terrible start in life for them all

People like that should be sterilised. My very first thread on here was about the druggies across the road who are still in possession of their two dds, but only just. The HV and SS are desperate for evidence to take the poor mites away. It is ridiculous these people are allowed to have children (not have as such but keep and ruin lives of.)

A couple of the neighbours have argued with them after having taken the 18-month old back to them as she is often seen running around with just a nappy on (and it isnt that warm.) The eldest dd sent the younger one to hospital when she was just a few months old after feeding her some of the parents whatever it is they take. They were taken away for a while but brought back. Between them the druggies have about 7 or 9 children THEY CANT REMEMBER! Foster care would at least mean the girls would have a home where someone gave a hell about them!

Paula71. I think witnessing that sort of parenting on a daily basis would be quite distressing to me.

When I was in the police, one of the worst parts of the jobs was seeing the conditions that some poor kids have to live in
Unfortunately, ime, Social Services seem to bend over backwards to allow children to stay with their natural parents even when common sense shows that it's screamingly obvious that unless these kids are taken away from their parents they will have no hope of a decent life. Or of any life at all in some cases.
NomedePlume - it makes me f*@king angry too but I don't know what can be done to change the 'system'.
Also, it's not always individual social workers fault. My mum has a friend who is a social worker and was involved with an appallingly bad family (druggie mum / extremely violent dad) and was doing her utmost (to the extent that the father tried to murder her!) to try to get the two dds fostered, while they were still young enough for this do be of any use and yet her department still dragged their heels and kept giving the parents second chances.

its more an indictment on our society. citing individual cases here and there with the "oh i wish something more could be done" following, is how all of society deals with these cases. because we cannot (as a society) face up to the appauling conditions and poverty that exists in this country. its easier to blame bad parenting or unhealthy eating or a bad education or drug problems. stick it all together and its worthwhile remembering that for every bad parent living in these appauling terrible conditions there are as many good parents struggling through who never harm their children and who do their best and never get highlighted for doing a damn good job despite being surounded by poverty.

its easier to say takehte kids away or they should be sterelized than to really look at the problem incontext at large - because its often too much for us as individuals to recognise what proportion of society do live this every day

Paula - sounds like a dreadful situation. Tho I am interested in how you know that HV/SS would like to take kids away? I wouldn't like my HV to be discussing me with my neighbours!

MummytoSteven, the parents boast about it quite openly and have bragged to some neighbours who have had arguements with them that as long as the children stay with them they won't get a prison sentence!

DH was out at the ice-cream van a few weeks ago and one of them was taunting another neighbour (whose wife had taken the baby back when she was out on a run about and had words with the "dad"She kept saying "Can't let you out alone incase someone reports us, can't have that!"

He was laughing, DH was confused until I told him about the recent event.

What a World!

Maybe the parents in the original case are bad people. Or maybe they are caught up in chaotic lives and too dragged down by all their problems to cope. Or maybe one of them has learning difficulties and the other one is struggling to cope. Who knows. Just desperately sad for their poor children.

It must be heartbreaking for people ttc or on the adoption waiting list to hear stories like this, so unfair that the ungracious and cruel should be so fertile
