Michelle Thomson in parliament today

I had mixed feelings about this. Admiration for Ms Thomson for being brave enough to speak out (really, watch the video, it's incredible) and a level of rage that most MP's (who are men) give so little of a shit about male violence against women, that there is a sea of empty green benches.

Very brave of her. Really eloquent and powerful description of what happened and the impact it has had.

re the empty benches there aren't many women there either. I think the important thing is that the issues are articulated and recorded. It may actually have been easier for her to speak to a smaller number of people and the fact that her speech is getting a lot of coverage is heartening.

I noticed the empty benches too and thought 'typical, such disinterest' by male politicians and it saddens me.
I think she should go to the police with the name of her rapist. It might help join up dots re other cases, help investigations. There may be more victims survivors.
Though perhaps she did go to the police.
I don't know how long the statue of limitations is.

I am astounded that only three people on Mumsnet have commented on this brave woman.
In fairness perhaps there is another thread on the same topic elsewhere on Mumsnet

I thought she was so brave and calm, and she sounded so strong. I noticed all parties had very little presence - does anyone know how long the debate was and whether the chamber was busier at any other stage? I wonder how many people knew what she was planning to say.

I saw a headline that the police had been in contact with her.

I'm not normally a fan of hers, but she moved me to tears. I wish Parliament could have more days focusing on debates like this, and less braying at each other over party politics.

Her channel 4 interview moved me to tears. What an incredibly brave woman.
