Hardly anyone knows about this. It has hardly been publicised. I found out only by chance.

Heard about it on the radio this week briefly. Dosnt sound THAT bad unless you are poor sod who is olde and never applied for a photo card and now needs one.
But most people should be able to go on line to get a code etc faff about at the airport not undoable just right royal PITA

I don't know why it matters to have a code.

Dh & I travelled to the UK recently & hired a car. We don't have a paper licence, or paper add on, just a plastic credit card-sized licence.

We has no trouble at all & no one asked to see anything except his licence.

akire if you have an old style licence it is still valid. You do not need to apply for a photo card.

Yes it's pants. What if your travel arrangements break down and you need to hire a car last minute (like the Icelandic volcano a few years ago)

I read about this a few weeks ago. I have never seen the point of the paper counterpart tbh.

I don't think it will be so bad. People will find it easier to get a code from the internet in an emergency than their counterpart out of the kitchen drawer at home.
