Peaches Geldof's baby left alone with her body for 17 hours after she died

I am so saddened and appalled to read that Peaches Geldof died of a heroin overdose seventeen hours before she was found. All that time her 11 month old baby was on his own in the house. Would that cause long lasting trauma/damage to him? as well as the trauma of losing his mum in the first place? My baby is 10 months and I couldn't bear the thought of leaving her alone for 5 minutes let alone 17 hours. I know she was addicted, but could she not have waited until both kids were with the husband or something? Such a shocking story and so sad for all involved.
