I saw this in the news too. Poor girls. The school goes to great lengths to chaperone the girls and they are only allowed out completely covered up.

Doesn't stop men being bastards though does it.

I get tired of feminism being characterised as hating all men. HOW THE FUCK AM I EVER GOING TO MEET ALL MEN?

Its always fun to be picked up on a minor discriptive point when talking about the false imprisonment and sexual assault of girls.

So, to rephrase: It doesn't stop some men who enjoy imprisoning and sexually abusing girls from being bastards.

BOF, yes I don't expect to meet all men either.

BOF

If thats aimed at me

I am against generalised sexist statements, I would have posted similar if babyheave had of posted something that implied all women.

Yes I think that the most important thing about this story is the fact that it reminds us that there are some men around who are not horrible.

We should all talk about that.

I hope that they get enough evidence to send them down for a long long time.

What happened to innocent until proven guilty, BBJ? Confused

I must say I am surprised. If a woman had said "I hope they get locked up for a long time" I'm sure there would have been someone eager to point out that they hadn't been tried yet.

Interesting

Trekkie

I will always believe those that report sexual abuse, (I believe that there is a campaign on here about it).

It's obviously a very bad situation, with some victims who must be going through massive trauma, poor girls.

But yeah, obviously we should be talking about how lovely most men are, rather than the investigation into sexual assault and false imprisonment... perish the thought that women might actually be able to talk about these things without deferring to men.

BBJ unfortunately I am familiar with you as a poster

And thus can bring up the following quote with a 2 sec MN search:

(At the risk of being flamed)

This blows holes in some common misconceptions of rape

falserapesociety.blogspot.com/link

It nevers states that rape is right in fact is wholly against rape.

I can't be arsed to look any further but will if required.

Unless the MN campaign I Believe You has changed your attitude so much that you go from posting links to "The False Rape Society" and over to saying that any man accused of a sex offence is guilty. A full about turn!

And FWIW the I Believe You campaign is about taking victims seriously - from everyone in society to friends and family and police and CPS and so on. It is not about saying that any man accused of a sex crime is automatically guilty.

Anyway enough of this, maybe we could talk about the news story.Smile

well done.

Yes, my attitude has changed.

But I always have and always will believe the accuser in the first instance.

If you have finished picking. we might just be able to go back to the news story.

Boney, it's good to hear that people can change their attitudes and opinions. I'm glad you are now prepared to believe victims.

Maybe if a few more coppers were to do the same, we wouldn't have a major report into Savile admitting that someone today could still get away with decades of sex crimes.

Good advice. You should have adhered to it yourself before your first comment on this thread which effectively de-railed it and made it all "whataboutthemenz".
