for prisoners on death row to be executed?? 23yrs??
Last year there were only (not sure that's the word I'm looking for - not an advocate personally - but don't want to debate that - as it's been done to death recently) 60 people executed. Yet there are over 3500 on death row.
Why does it take so long?? I know the appeals process can take some time - but even so - surely not as long as most people seem to be on it. It's like being sentences twice - life inprisonment - then death penatly as you're reaching the end of your life (if you haven't top yourself beforehand - as suicide rates for those on death row are 6 times higher than the general prison population, and 10 times higher than the US population).
