what a terrible thing to happen - their poor families, and poor baby . Hope the LO makes it.

Sends shivers down your spine. Poor family. And the fact that it was a police car that was involved in the crash makes it worse, somehow.

So sad

I think until we know more details the fact that a police car was involved is really irrelevant. It's perfectly possible that it was a complete accident that noone could have avoided (ice, blowout, failed brakes etc) or that it was the fault of the fiesta. Also perfectly possible that it was the fault of the police car but we just don't know.

Agree with Gobbledegook.

Recently in Jersey there was a similar crash involving a marked police car and another car. Everyone blamed the police, until it emerged the woman had swerved into the way of the police car while it was answering a 999 call [It's still unknown why she did.]. Sadly the woman and her husband died, while the police were badly injured, but survived.

This sad accident may be have similar circumstances.

Oh no

I wasn't assuming the police were to blame, who knows? But that you associate the police with safety and protection to some extent, certainly traffic cops, so it's even more poignant, to my mind, that it was a police car they hit. No matter whose fault it was, or indeed no-one's fault at all.

And the poor officers in the police car must be very shaken, too.

Oh I see what you mean - yes, I agree. Same if it had been any emergency vehicle. It does seem somehow 'worse' in that way.

This is just so awful.

That's exactly it, GGK, thank you! So desperately sad.
