I bought a really nice little sheepskin rug from a car boot and washed it on a wool wash with ecover delicate washing liquid . The wool side is lovely and soft but the skin side is really dry and hard .Is there anything i can treat it with ? and where can i get it ?

Ooh, will be watching this thread - was given a sheepskin when DS was born, handed down from SIL's and assured by MIL that it had been washed thoroughly...but when I asked MIL how I should wash it once DS was finished with it, she said it hadn't been washed to her knowledge and she didn't know what would be the best way to clean it

So, we're expecting DC2 now and I would really like to wash this sheepskin before he or she arrives but was worried about ruining it.

Sorry, not trying to hi-jack, just really interested in the best way to do this...

Someone on this thread here suggests putting the lanolin you use to waterproof real nappies in the final rinse as a moisturiser...

ahhh so tumble drying it on cool and sticking it in the airing cupboard ,probably not the best idea then ! will try and get some lanolin though and have another bash at washing it thanks for the help
