Help! Rusty iron bed - how to fix?

I worked extra when I was at uni to save up for some furniture when we moved into our first house. Our real investment was a beautiful cream iron bed frame. When we had our DD2, we bought low wooden bed frames to put a king size and a single mattress on so we could continue to co-sleep. We asked my parents to store the bed for us. This was 4 years ago.

We've just asked for it back and have been really excited, but mum has just told me that the paint is all cracked and in some places it's rusted where the paint's come away . We only bloody used it for 2 years! I'm actually devasted . She's just said 'I wonder if there's anywhere that you can get them dipped or something'. So...is there anywhere?

You could try sanding and painting with Hammerite paint -they do a "hammered" and smooth finish.

Heres their website -take a look as you might find an answer there as they do all sorts of paints and treatments

You could try sanding off the cracked bits of paint, cleaning the rust off with WD40 and then, like Norbert says, colour matching with a Hammerite type paint.
