I've got 4 days to sort my house out...

I've got Tue-Fri child-free (relatives looking after the rugrats) so am going to tackle de-cluttering and spring cleaning our house.

But where to start?

I need to:

Completely de-clutter and sort out DS's bedroom. Sort through his toys, throw stuff away, reorganise etc.

Do the same to the playroom, which is a complete shit tip of toys at the moment

De-clutter our bedroom - not too bad, but involves sorting out a few drawers of crap and putting away all pour clothes (currently piles of clean laundry in one corner).

De-clutter kitchen - probably the least worse, just a few hotspots of junk that need attacking.

Do a spot of de-cluttering of drawers/cabinet in bathroom.

Sort through all DD's clothes and get rid of stuff reorganise etc.

Wash bed linen and make up spare room ( which is tidy, thank God) in time for guests arriving on saturday.

Is all of this even achievable? Where do I start?

My cleaning lady comes on Thursday so don't need to do any cleaning.

HELP!!!!!

Start in one room, say the living room & work from one end to the other, put stuff that doesn't belong there in one box/bag, stuff to sort in another, stuff that's junk to be thrown in another(label that one!! I always end up starting to sort through mine then realise it's all for the bin).

Bin the one for the bin.
Sort out the one thats for sorting through & decide what wants keeping/chucking/putting somewhere else & add the stuff to put elsewhere into your first bag or box & then deposit stuff at least in the room where it should be; if not away

Re the toys . . . be ruthless!!! While the kids are away throw anything broken, sort bits for charity shop & organise the other stuff into boxes of some sort maybe. Chances are they'll not notice anything missing, just think you've had a tidy up while they weren't there

Kitchen hotspots you could probably do while doing something else . . . I sort the 'shite pile' of bills/receipts/bank statements/hair bobbles /lippy etc that accumulates on one of my sides while waiting for the kettle to boil or while cooking tea

Bathroom decluttering is easy, throw anything out of date or that you've not used

Make-up spare room should only take 10mins so easy enough

Maybe make a list of say 10 points to achieve each day, not too big that you can't do it & you can see things being done as you tick them off your list

MrsMattie - Good luck, maybe we can help each other with some suppor.

I have been tryng to spring clean house and getting nowhere fast due to teething DD2 and lack of sleep.
I have got to:

File and sort paperwork pile currently weighing down the top of the fish tank in dining room

Clean bathroom and sort and clean bath toys

Completely de clutter and clean bedroom, sorting all clothes, shoes, bags etc

Sort out and empty DD2's bedroom so she can move into it (still with us at mo)

Biggest job - empty kitchen cupboards and clean and reorganise. Kitchen is tiny so no room for storage.

Clean every window in house

Will check in tomorrow and hopefully be able say I have made a start x

Good idea about making a list of 10 things - although think I will start off a list of 5

Drink heavily for three days and watch lowest common denominator tv.

Weep for a day, picking up random items and moving them into another room.

Black bag everything on the final day and cram them in the attic.

Voila!

And, obviously, I can't count to four.

It's the drink.
