Miele hoover owners....question please

Can I just ask what affects the suction your machine, mine is less than a year and not sucking as well as it used to (I'm sure there's a joke about wives and hoovers to be had there somewhere). Anyhow, I've changed the bag (of course) and the filter but just not as powerful as it should be. My local hoover shop only had generic miele hoover bags so thats what I'm currently using, do you think this could be the problem? ps its a Miele cat and dog.

I have always found that the generic bags are not as good as the miele one.

But I am not sure it should affect things that badly. Have you checked things like blockage in the tubes or brush head? MY dh takes the brush off about once a year and clears things out of it - like tinsel, hair, string, etc, and it always works better after that.

Good luck

mmm i think it sounds a bit odd actually. Mine sometimes losing suction when the bag needs changing...but generally it's as good as ever. Even when i frequently just empty the bag rather than replace it.
It's about 2 years old. Is there a helpline to phone with all the gumph that came with it. Perhaps it needs looking at.

My meile cat and dog wasn't sucking...discovered the head entry pipe was stuffed with hair and rubbish.
DH took the pipes apart and cleaned out the head and pipe, it is now fine.

Sorry - meant to write that my dh takes the brush apart once a year.

I've had mine about 2 years now, and it always goes back to full suction when I get round to changing the bag and the filters, I don't think it should be slowing down after only a year. Try what others have suggested - take off all the bits which come off and check for blockages, then give them a phone.

Right thanks everyone, no blockages there, loads of hair and yuckky stuff around the brush which I cut off with sissors, (not a nice job....Spamm, how on earth do you get your DH to do that?!) the brush all nice and clean, but still not picking up like it should and the turbo brush isn't making that turbo sound as strong as it should . Gonna ring them now.

they are going to send courier to pick up on Monday and send it away to be looked at in their workshop...its under warranty, but if its accidental damage or something like that I have to pay £99!!! Not happy about this! Also be without a machine for 5 days!
